At Lala & Elm, our mission goes beyond clean beauty - the heart of our boutique is the Mearns family’s deep commitment to community, compassion, and honoring the love shared with our pets. Through our annual philanthropic events and ongoing partnerships, we proudly support organizations making a meaningful difference for animals and the people who love them.

All of our philanthropic events are true celebrations, bringing our community together with pop-ups, exclusive gifts, exciting giveaways, special guests (often furry ones!), and the shared knowledge that every purchase supports a greater good.

Our Anniversary Celebration

Each summer, we mark another year of Lala & Elm with a boutique-wide celebration filled with joy, community, and giving back. This lively weekend features pop-up vendors, special treats, gifts with purchase, and plenty of fun!

Our Anniversary Celebration is especially meaningful as it honors two beloved Lala & Elm pups, Lexus and Jackson. In their memory, the Mearns family created the Lexus & Jackson Legacy of Love Fund in partnership with the NC State Veterinary Medical Foundation. Proceeds from the event support Omega Transitional Care, a groundbreaking palliative care program at NC State’s Veterinary Hospital to help pets and families find comfort and dignity in their final chapter together.

Our Sassy’s Saturday Tradition

Every November, the weekend before Thanksgiving, we kick off the holiday season with Sassy’s Saturday — a fabulous shopping event filled with community, fun, and giving back. While it’s named for one special day, it’s really a full weekend of festivities in our boutique, complete with pop-ups, giveaways, in-store surprises, and lots of holiday cheer.

This event was created in memory of another Mearns family pup, Sassy, who they lost to hemangiosarcoma in 2021. To honor her, they established Sassy’s Fund with the NC State Veterinary Medical Foundation, supporting important research into this aggressive canine cancer. Through this event, every purchase helps fund life-changing research while celebrating the joy Sassy brought to their lives.

 



Our Ongoing Partnerships

Beyond our cornerstone events, we are proud to support organizations that share our belief in the power of the human-animal bond.

 

 

 

Our foremost philanthropic partner, the NC State Veterinary Medical Foundation, makes possible groundbreaking research and care for pets and their families. Through both the Lexus & Jackson Legacy of Love Fund and Sassy’s Fund, our events directly support their mission and the work of NC State’s Veterinary Hospital.

 

 

 

 

As the exclusive skincare partner of The Human-Animal Alliance, we host in-store events, promotions, and experiences that directly benefit programs fostering the healing connection between humans and animals. From animal-assisted therapy for trauma survivors to keeping pets and their people together, The Human-Animal Alliance is making a profound impact nationwide.

 

 

 

 

We also support Paws Place Dog Rescue, a local no-kill shelter dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs in need. This organization holds a special place in our hearts, and we are honored to support their mission during our Anniversary Celebration & Sassy’s Saturday events.
